About HCF |
Henry received a position at Wang Film Productions, Taiwan’s largest animation production house, and served as background art director and lead a team for professional work contributed to such Disney films as The Little Mermaid(1989), The Rescuers Down Under(1990), and Aladdin(1992).
Later, Henry also cooperated with Taiwanese director Wang Hsiao-ti on the 44th Asia-Pacific Film Festival (Bangkok) nominated best animated film Grandma and Her Ghosts(Mofa ama, 1998). Henry’s career not only brought him into contact with all styles of illustration and storytelling, it also enabled him to reside overseas while he cooperated with international animation houses in Denmark and Germany. These invaluable experiences had a strong influence on his later style, in which one can identify a riotous profusion of colors and strong contrast of light and shadow. Henry’s work allows viewers to feel small details such as the breeze, a gentle shaft of sunlight, or the nostalgic glow of old-time restaurants. In 2000, the chance creation of his first Artstone would change the course of Henry’s destiny. That piece planted a seed in his heart, until after three years of deliberation Henry decided to give up his career in animation to dedicate himself to creating Artstones, upon which he established “Henry House Studio” in Jiufen village, northern Taiwan. Henry's catalog of characters grew, some of them quirky and clever, some simple and down-to-earth, others sweet and compassionate. In addition, he began to sense a relationship developing between them, inspiring him to create even more, and his menagerie has expanded to include not only cats and dogs, but also rabbits, owls, pig, bear, panda, and many more.
